Dr. Johnny L. Magee Jr.
Dr. Johnny L. Magee, Jr. is the founding pastor of Commanded Blessings
Christian Fellowship , a non-denominational and multi-ethnic church
located in Chesapeake, Virginia. With nearly 14 years of ministry experience,
Dr. Magee is committed to bringing the message of victory through Jesus
Christ to people throughout the Hampton Roads/Tidewater area.
A former soldier in the United States Army, Dr. Magee received his call into
the ministry in the year of 1986 while stationed in Darmstadt, Germany. In
January of 1988, he was reassigned by the military to Ft. Hood, Texas. During his tour of duty, he and his family joined the Christian House of Prayer, which is under the dynamic leadership of Bishop Nathaniel and Pastor Valerie Holcomb.
Dr. Magee and his wife Lilliette (Cookie) became extremely active in the church. They joined and served in the men’s and women’s fellowships, counselors ministry, children’s church and the choir. It was during this time of faithful and dedicated service that the Lord began to deal with his heart about spreading the word of God (that he was receiving from C.H.O.P.) to congregations abroad.
In 1992, with the consent and encouragement from the Bishop, Dr. Magee stepped out in faith full-time on the teaching/evangelistic field. For nearly three years, they experienced both the lows and the highs of ministry. Then, towards the end of 1994 as his traveling ministry was gaining notoriety, he was approached by Bishop Holcomb with the opportunity of a life time-to take over a covenant ministry in Europe. They departed for Germany in 1995 and for nearly eight years, Dr. Magee and his wife Lilliette (Cookie) would successfully and skillfully pastor one of the largest (at that time) Charismatic ministries in the Kaiserslautern/Landstuhl area.
Due to his wisdom and unique ability for teaching the word of God and his insight for church government, he became a sought after speaker for many of the American conferences and seminars in Germany, England and Holland. His television program; “Totally Blessed” (which was broadcasted out of England) reached an estimated of 70 million homes throughout Europe.
It was during his tenure as a shepherd in Europe that he acquired a Bachelors Degree in Biblical Studies and received an Honorary Doctorate from Triune Biblical University from Kelso, Washington. He later was elevated by Bishop Holcomb to the position of Presbyter within the Covenant Connections International (CCI) fellowship.
Although the ministry in Europe was thriving and gaining great popularity and favor with man in various parts of Europe, Dr. Magee couldn’t deny the tugging in his heart to return to the United States to begin a new journey of faith. In 2003, the Magee’s relocated to Chesapeake, Virginia.
In July of 2003, he began (as the ministry was known as back then) Totally Blessed Family Worship Center. It began with eight families that relocated from Europe to accompany the Magee’s to get it started. Then, in 2004, Dr. Magee, was instructed by the Spirit of the Lord to change the name of the church to; Commanded Blessings Christian Fellowship. It was clear to the Magee’s that God desired to do a “New Thing” with them in the ministry.
CBCF is presently meeting in an elementary school cafeteria and growing. Although the growth has been extremely slower than anticipated, and there are mountains in ministry to conquer, the vision in Dr. Magee’s heart is still burning bright. His battle cry is and will always be; “If He (God) did it Back Then, He’ll Do It Even Greater Again!”
He is presently the author of two (2) books entitled; “Unbelief: The Undercurrent Enemy of Faith and Living under an Open Heaven.” He and his wife Lilliette have been married for 23 years and reside in Chesapeake, Virginia. They have two children: a son named Elijhah and a daughter named Lemeka, who is presently serving in the United States Army.
He is a proud graduate of Sonship School of the Firstborn under the leadership of Bishop Nathaniel Holcomb of the Cathedral of Central Texas/The Christian House of Prayer in Killeen, Texas.
